Flat Mylar Tinsel can be stretched slightly as it is wrapped to create a

tight seamless body on streamer patterns. It can be used as a ribbing
material to help reinforce fragile materials or to add flash and visual
appeal to streamers.

  • Gold on one side, silver on the other side
  • Add flash and visual appeal to streamers, nymphs, wet flies.
  • Great for shellback and wing cases.

Danville’s Flat Mylar Tinsel is gold on one side and silver on the other, offering choice and versatility to the tyer. Flat Mylar Tinsel also works great as a shellback or wing case on nymph patterns.

Great Experience

All the products were as viewed on the website. Being a new fly tyer sometimes there is so much product it is hard to decide what to get and once received what did I have planned with it. Well that’s the nature of the beast. One thing I wonder if there is an article that explains the different fly cements and when one is used over another?

Hi Ernie, thanks so much for your review and great blog suggestion! There are so many resins and cements out there and it can be overwhelming for sure! As long as you have a strong luv light (like ours is a 395nm strength you are good to use any uv resin. There is the Z-Ment which is not uv and does not require a uv light to cure it to the fly. Here's a quick breakdown for you: 'Thin' soaks into the threads/materials to reduce the thickness of the dried resin, great for nymphs and small/thin chironomids. 'Thick' is great to make that great thicker coating on a scud or larger chironomid.. 'Flex/Medium' are good for that all around bit of both worlds for a variety of flies. Please touch base with us if we can help you further.
